Swiss Cross-Border Wealth Management Certification

This certification program conveys the knowledge on domestic taxation and domestic markets necessary for wealth managers with international clients. Offered jointly by the Swiss Finance Institute and the Centro di Studi Bancari, the program is organised by country. Currently available countries are: Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, UK and Spain.

For each of these countries three areas of expertise are taught to help the international financial advisor to sustain and expand his/her business opportunities:

  • Domestic regulations to understand available possibilities;
  • Domestic taxation to raise the competency level and to recognize opportunities for additional advice;
  • Local markets and local investment opportunities so as to compete more successfully against local competitors and to provide a more hollistic advice;

The program aims to prepare the astute wealth manager to target domestic assets of the client, expand the service offering and the service sophistication to include tax and inheritance aspects, and address new onshore sources of wealth such as liquidity events.

Annual half-day training sessions ensure that the certified advisors can keep their knowledge current.

Participants who have completed the program and passed the required tests receive a certification issued by the Swiss Finance Institute and the Centro di Studi Bancari. The certification remains valid as long as certain conditions regarding refresher courses are observed.
