Course Structure The program will last a total of 6 weeks plus 4 additional days spread over 21 months. Initially, there will be a “Kick-Off-Event” followed by a mandatory self-assessment on the participant’s knowledge of modern financial mathematics. The three course blocks, which last two weeks each, are thematically divided into modules. After every course block the participants have to take an exam on the corresponding contents. The participant's successful completion of the program is confirmed by a “Diploma of Advanced Studies in Banking” of the University of Bern.
Lecturers/Methods The various subjects will be approached from both theoretical and practical angles and will be consolidated by case studies. The theoretical concepts will be taught by selected university lecturers who are in close touch with practical work through their role as consultants. Seminars given by expert practitioners will demonstrate the transfer of theory into practice. Discussion of case studies in small groups will enhance the interactive analysis of the subject matter by the participants themselves.
Modern teaching methods characterize the Swiss Finance Institute’s DAS in Banking. Important features of the syllabus are the collaboration between participants and the multi-disciplinary teaching. Group assignments, distant learning and related methods will further stimulate and improve the participant's competence.
