The curriculum of the Advanced Executive Program is made up out of the following courses. All topics and lecturers concerned with the curriculum are subject to annual assessments by the participants and are changed accordingly to guarantee the most up-to-date course material and best teaching environment

Strategic Bank Management
Topics are the basic developments in global financial markets. They form the framework within which every financial institution must define its strategies. Hence, both opportunities and threats of the global environment are to be weighed against the banks’ strengths and weaknesses. A special focus is the coordinated strategic planning process tying the individual business areas of a bank together.

Corporate Development
The main focus of this module is concerned with corporate development in the financial service industry. Specifically, the course shall deal with aspects of organizational development, human resources management (HR-development) and leadership (for example organisational dynamics, trust and the health and motivation of the individual). Next to current theories provided by academics, highly qualified practitioners in their field of expertise shall offer invaluable insights into their work experience and contribute to the general discussions and group projects.

Retail Banking
Financial services are understood to include retail banking as well as bancassurance. In addition to illustrating strategic developments in this field, emphasis is placed on bank marketing with issues such as pricing, product management and customer segmentation policies, and multi-channel management.

Private Banking
Taking the current strategic upheavals that private banking is undergoing today, as the basis, this module takes up issues such as financial planning and estate planning will be explained as well as the new management challenges arising from regulatory developments.

Commercial Banking
This module will provide the participant with a wide-ranging overview of the international and national developments of the commercial credit business. Together with the new developments in the areas of rating analysis, option-theoretical pricing, credit risk management and credit work-out, the latest changes in corporate governance will be highlighted.

Asset Management
This module takes a close look at modern portfolio management. Along with the traditional allocation systems, the participant will be taken through strategic and tactical asset allocation, pension fund management, portfolio insurance and structured products.

Investment Banking: Corporate Finance
The main topics of this module deal with all main aspects of finance and investment management (corporate finance). Along side other aspects the main points to be dealt with are shareholder value, corporate evaluations and mergers and acquisitions. Amongst other topics, there will be an introduction to the discounted cash-flow method as well as to the concept of economic value added (EVA).

Financial Markets
The module will focus on the function and structures of capital markets and the development of stock markets. This includes in particular the subjects IPO, secondary markets and structured OTC products. Special attention will be paid to the most recent challenges in clearing and settlement. In addition to the front-oriented discussion the focus is on the processes and on the back-office organisational issues.

Risk Management & Regulation
The interlinked importance of risk management has been recognized by all banks to be of great importance. The diverse risks that banks are facing in a globalized world and the current solutions offered by practitioners and academics alike are the main subject of this module. As knowledge of the legal framework and current directives are vital tools for risk management systems, the module shall also spend time dealing with the legal and regulatory aspects.

Management Accounting & Control of Banks
This module deals with financial management, controlling, as well as asset and liability management. We will discuss the essential instruments for consolidated accounting as well as activity based costing and the market interest rate method; we will also address the numerous challenges in the development of management information systems. The module will close with a PC-supported simulation of the overall management of a bank. This will give participants the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the previous modules and to observe the consequences of their decisions in a realistic setting.
